How to Speed Up Your PC

Over the time, slowing and gradually your system start taking more time to process an instruction. It responds very slowly to user’s actions for opening a file, or surfing over web. So in order to speed up your system, users must follow certain steps to regain the original speed of the System or PC.

1. Startup Programs:

When you install a certain program on your system, it may use another small program that gets executed when the windows start. So in case after installing many program the boot up process of the PC slows down. Hence, you must disable those startup programs manually or through CCleaner as those are the programs that actually aren’t required to start every time the system starts.

Soluton is software that helps to speed up the boot process of the system.

2. Disk Cleanup:

Windows provide the already built in disk cleanup tools that helps in removing the old and temporarily files that are stored in the system. This in turn increases the memory space on your hard disk and hence gets to the improvement in the speed of the PC.

It is generally advisable or suggested to run the Disk cleanup utility once in a week time or on a monthly basis, which again depends on the amount of usage that is carried over on your system.

Disk cleanup cleans the entire files stored in the recycle bin, all the temporarily files loaded from the internet, cookies, etc. A scheduler can be set to give a reminder of running the disk cleanup tool on the PC.

3. Malware, Virus, Spyware and Adware

These are a kind of virus that is affected within the system while browsing over the net especially. These also involve fake antivirus applications that itself can be a virus and affect the PC by getting to reduce the speed of the system. Hence the user must focus on certain tools to be executed that removes such files from the system leading to the enhancement in the speed of the windows PC.

4. Clean up

Other that disk Cleanup that involves certain useless files in the system, there are many other unnecessary documents, images, music files that are no more of use and interest for the users. Such files must be removed from the system helping to free the disk space and increasing the speed henceforth.  The log files, browsing history are also included within the list. Such files can be removed by executing CCleaner tool on the system which quickly and silently deleted all unwanted or unnecessary files.

5. Windows feature

There are many features that the users don’t used but are enabled on the system, and takes up the space of valuable resources on the PC. Hence these windows features are needed to be disabled so that it doesn’t affect the function of the system and bring any hindrance in the functioning.

6. Indexing Services

When you search for a file or a folder on the system through search option, windows scans all those documents and creates an index file that then helps to speed up the search process. Where it served to be useful to the user, on the other hand it also consumes a large amount of system resource and slows down its processing. Hence it is better to turn off the indexing services which helps in not only increasing the speed but also frees up the memory space for more storage of important content.

Here search for “services.msc” file in the system. As soon as the link is displayed; click on that option. Then search for the Windows Search service and find its properties from the popup menu. To disable the properties click on disable from the drop-down list and click ok to finalize the change.

Once this is don’t reboot the system to confirm the change made within the system.

7. Start Menu

A simple change of a key in the registry helps to open the start menu faster and display its contents and submenus at a greater speed. On the left pane of the registry editor, modify the value between 0-4000; indicating the milliseconds for the menu to be displayed and press to accept the change. Once you close the registry editor it is recommended to reboot the system to bring the affect of the change.

8. Uninstalling the programs

Sometimes, it happens that when you uninstall a particular program certain files of it remains within the system accumulated in the memory. Hence user must see to it while uninstalling the programs and make sure that all the files related to be uninstalled files are deleted or not. Hence the unused files are removed helping in the resultant of the increasing speed of the system.

9. Folders

Folders must be organized carefully as lot many files in one folder can slow down the explorer. Hence in such case try your level best to create multiple folders and save the files among many folders and not that it happens to be in just one.

10. Cleaning of Physical or hardware parts

It is very necessary to clean up the hardware or physical parts of the system timely and prevent it from any dust or dirt from settling on the system. Sometimes overheat of the system is responsible for the failure of the system hardware too and eventually break downs of the parts of the PC.
